Meet your Doctor

Dr. Nichole

I’m a licensed psychologist who is passionate about promoting positive change.

Treatment philosophy
My treatment philosophy of psychotherapy is a collaborative, active process that focuses on strengths and values with the ultimate goal to empower, inspire, and create positive change to increase quality of life. I offer evidence-based practices in a brief format along with integration of measurements to determine progress in treatment. My demeanor is warm, curious, direct, and challenging along with a sense of humor. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds across the lifespan (teenagers to older adults) to help with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationships, and more. I also am passionate about offering specialty services for individuals with eating disorders (and disordered eating) and body image issues.
Research endeavors
My training as a scientist-practitioner ingrained the importance of participating in various research capacities. I have published research articles in peer-reviewed international journals with high impact ratings, serve as a member of the Editorial Board for Body Image: An International Journal of Research, served as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, and co-authored an assessment in the area of positive body image (Body Appreciation Scale, Body Appreciation Scale-2). Additionally, I have participated in multidisciplinary research collaborations at various hospitals/institutions. I trained at Stanford University as a Family-Based Treatment (FBT) psychotherapist for a multi-center National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) study comparing treatment outcomes for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa. I integrate research findings into my clinical practice and use clinical practice to inform my research pursuits.
Program Development
I have created programming to assist with positive body image development, problem eating, mentoring and more to promote positive outcomes.
Education/Training
My passion for education and training includes mentoring, training, and supervision for graduate students and professionals with diverse backgrounds. I also enjoy presenting at professional conferences, universities, organizations, and community events (check out select presentations). Continued growth and development is an integral aspect of my identity that I invest in via peer consultation, learning new evidence-based practices, reading journal articles, and attending conferences.
Writing
Throughout my professional career, I have written articles for professional association publications, published journal articles, co-authored grants, served as a co-author on publications, and recently co-wrote Positive Body Image Workbook: A Clinical and Self-Improvement Guide.
Advocacy
I have attended professional leadership conferences specifically focused on legislative change to enhance access to mental health care. Additionally, I’ve lobbied on Capitol Hill on several occasions to advocate for positive change related to mental health initiatives.
