Rates/Fees

Fees

Rates range from $150-$250 depending on type of session. I will offer you a Good Faith Estimate that includes an approximate total cost based on an estimated number of sessions.

Forms of payment

I accept payment via debit, major credit card or a Health Savings Account (HSA) due at the beginning of session.

What does Out-of-Network mean?

Although I do not accept insurance, you can request reimbursement for out-of-network benefits through your insurance company. Out-of-network means that your insurance may reimburse part of your service fees at their discretion. Most clients are reimbursed at least 60% of session fees, depending on the insurance and deductible criteria. If your deductible has been met, your out-of-pocket cost could be comparable to an insurance co-pay. If you’re interested in using your out-of-network benefit, I can provide a detailed receipt for you to submit to your insurance company, known as a superbill. Let’s talk about how easy this process can be including tips from other clients during our free phone consultation.

It’s important that you are knowledgeable about your plan’s benefits and limitations so that you can make the best healthcare decisions for you and your family. Contact your insurance company directly to ask the following questions:

  • What is the reimbursement process for out-of-network services?

  • Do I need to complete a form for reimbursement?

  • What are the limits for my out-of-network mental health benefits? Is this different for services with an in-network provider?

  • Do I need to meet a deductible before services are covered? If so, what is this amount?

  • What percentage of the fee is covered after this deductible is met?

  • How long does it typically take to get reimbursed?

  • Is the reimbursement fee different for telehealth versus in-person appointments?

  • Are there any other issues to consider with this process?

No show or late cancellation (less than 24 hours)

Please notify me as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment so that it can be offered to another client. Note: You will be charged the full session rate for no-shows and for cancelled appointments with less than 24-hour notice.

Why self-pay versus insurance?
  • Quality mental health treatment is worth the investment.

  • Access to a psychologist who provides both general and specialty services (body image, eating disorders, telehealth).

  • Maintain your privacy when:

    • Working in a high profile position.

    • Wanting to protect a diagnosis from becoming a permanent part of the health record for you or a family member.

  • Limit third parties from accessing your private health information.

  • Focus treatment on your unique needs and my clinical expertise versus that of an insurer.

  • Remember that insurance companies do not provide unlimited access to mental health services. They decide which diagnoses to reimburse, set caps on services (e.g., limited number of sessions per calendar year), enforce high deductibles, and require co-pays for each session. Once the benefits are exhausted, you are responsible for 100% of out-of-pocket expenses.
